SUPER SUNDAY for Clifton Robinsons hockey Bristol

England hockey shieldIt’s super Sunday at Bristol hockey hub club Clifton Robinsons today with a rare, double England Hockey League treat in store for supporters.

The top women's hockey team in the region play University of Birmingham in Women’s Premier at Coombe Dingle (1300 start). Clifton W1 are skippered by Harriet Smith.

Two hours later the same two clubs meet in Men’s Conference West at Coombe Dingle (1500) as Rory Thorburn's Robbies seek their first league win since gaining promotion as regional champions last season.

The national league games will be preceded by Chris Smith's Clifton Robinsons M2 vs Bristol & West cup clash at 1100. Bristol & West are co-captained by Ed Ledger and Alan Coles.

With Cardiff & Met in Euro Hockey League action abroad, their eagerly-anticipated game against defending champions Team Bath Buccaneers has been postponed.

Today’s other standout Men’s Conference West game is at Exeter, where Isca seek their first win against a Cheltenham side that beat Robbies 2-1 in round one.

Cheltenham were pipped 3-2 at the same venue last week by unbeaten University of Exeter who know a win at Olton & West Warwicks today will put them three points clear at the top of the table.
