Cheltenham men's first team - skippered by Alex Hay - rounded off their promotion winning season with an 8-6 win over N4 League Premier One champions University of Exeter A at Balcarras.
Hay's side - coached by club stalwart Lee Robson - now look forward to playing in the England Hockey League Men's Conference West next season.
Hay said: "I know we were last promoted into the national league in 1991 and were in the league for a couple of years."That was before restructuring and this will be the first time Cheltenham will play Conference hockey.
Hay said: "Our seconds winning promotion to Premier Three (in the N4 League) is another big plus - it's been a really good season for the club."
Cheltenham's ladies second team can clinch promotion this weekend from the West Clubs Womens League North Division - emulating the men's A team - if they win their final two games - at home to leaders Hereford tomorrow (1400, Balcarras) and against bottom club Marlborough on Sunday (1100, Cheltenham Ladies College).
Hereford head the table by two points from Cheltenham, who have a game in hand.
