First class cricket counties - Glamorgan, Gloucestershire and Somerset - are already well down the track in their county championship programmes while Devon, Dorset, Wales and Wiltshire were at the crease for the opening rounds of the Minor Counties KO Trophy last weekend.

Cornwall begin their Minor Counties knock at home to Hertfordshire at Werrington CC on Sunday May 5.

Cornwall delivers a full league programme for club cricketers today although 50-50 Premier Cup ties started in the county last Saturday.

The Devon, Dorset, Somerset and West of England Premier League seasons all bowl-in next Saturday, May 4.

Dorset & Wiltshire begin their rugby union county championship campaign today - away to Berkshire - while Cornwall, Gloucester and Devon kick off their Bill Beaumont Cup ties next Saturday.

Somerset start a week later - May 11 - with a trip to Tiverton RFC to play Devon.

The golf season is in full swing with the start of the men's amateur regional Channel League while Camborne's Tehidy Park has already hosted the Cornwall ladies' county championships.
