Plymouth Leander’s Jon Rudd has been recognized as 2012 British Swimming Coaches Association coach of the year.
Rudd received the BSCA Coach of the Year award - sponsored by Speedo - for coaching Lithuania’s teenage swimming sensation Ruta Meilutyte to Olympic gold in the women’s 100m breaststroke at London 2012.
Leander head coach Rudd – who is also director of swimming at Plymouth College - was presented with his prestigious award at the 49th BSCA Conference awards dinner at the St John’s Hotel in Solihull.
Rudd’s assistant coach Lindsay Dunn (Plymouth Leander) was also recognised for her role in the outstanding performance of 15-year-old golden girl Meilutyte and received a BSCA certificate of recognition.
Dunn is deputy director of swimming at Plymouth College.
Rudd was presented with his award by Jacco Verhaeran, sporting director of the Dutch Swimming Federation, and Laura Rattray, representing Speedo.
