Worcestershire left-arm seamer Ben Gibbon will make his first appearance of the season for Cheshire in their National Counties Championship Western Division One opener against defending champions Oxfordshire at Alderley Edge today. 

Gibbon’s last appearance for his native county also came at Alderley Edge last August when he took five wickets against Wiltshire, was recommended to Worcestershire who then invited him for trials before signing him.

National Counties Trophy holders Berkshire will face Wales NC in this season’s quarter-finals on Sunday July 17. 

Berkshire beat Wales in last season’s semi-finals at Port Talbot and will have home advantage this time as the Falkland club in Newbury has been confirmed for the quarter-final tie.

League One Plymouth Argyle have completed the signing of former Rotherham United wing back Mickel Miller on a two-year deal.

The 26-year-old is the second player to join the Greens this summer, following the arrival of midfielder Matt Butcher.

Wales NC reached the quarter-finals of the National Counties Trophy despite being beaten by six wickets by Dorset in their final Group Four match at Wimborne. 

Wales’ early defeat meant that they faced an anxious wait for the outcome of the Buckinghamshire versus Staffordshire match at Gerrards Cross, knowing that they would be level on points with the winner and net run rate would determine who went through with Dorset.
