Dorset, Cumbria and Hertfordshire secured their places in the quarter-finals of this season’s National Counties Trophy and will have the incentive of home advantage to play for in the final round of group matches on June 25. 

Dorset made sure of qualification from Group Four by beating Wales NC by 18 runs at Panteg and now face Wiltshire at Dorchester next Sunday to decide who will top the group and host the runners-up in Group Two in the quarter-finals on July 2.

Sussex seamer Brad Currie is in line to make his first appearance of the season for Dorset in today’s National Counties Trophy Group Four match against Wales NC at Panteg (1100). 

Currie is a product of Dorset’s youth system who was signed by Sussex on an initial short-term contract midway through last season.

Jayda Pechova, Sophie Kelly, Ali Wilshier and Betsy Creak were the award winners when Team Bath Netball staged their Super League end-of-season celebrations at Rengen House in Bath.

Pechova, whose impressive first full season in Super League has earned her a place in the Vitality Roses senior programme, was voted as both Players’ and Fans’ Most Valuable Player for 2023.

Defending Cornwall Premier League champions Penzance remain the only unbeaten team in the top flight after notching their fifth win on spin, at home to Redruth.

Penzance are yet to drop a bonus point after bowling the Reds out for 196 in the 46th over. Toby Whiteford top scored with 52 and newcomer Simon Danby made 46.
