Focus for many non-League real football fans tonight will be on the four outstanding regional FA Cup preliminary round replays, especially with the first qualifying round just four days away.

Although another preliminary round tie – in the Southern League Challenge Cup – means newly promoted Premier side Taunton Town first team coaches Rob Dray and Matty Villis make their managerial debut at home to newly promoted South 1 Street FC following the departure of Leigh Robinson and Michael Meaker to Truro City.

With runaway Southern League Premier champions Hereford FC being placed in National League North, there will again be six teams from the South West in National League South.

The FA Cup extra preliminary round has produced these regional football ties on Saturday August 11, 2018 (1500ko).

The preliminary round will be two weeks later on Saturday August 25 “but first we have to get through this round”…

South West Peninsula League announce 2018/19 line-up

So, the dust has finally settled and the 2018/19 line-up for the South West Peninsula League has been announced. With the planned shake-up scheduled to change the format in Devon and Cornwall only a year away, the FA’s Leagues Committee (known as LC in FA circles) showed a lot of common sense in allowing the league to deviate from the FA’s original ruling (to be found in the FA Handbook within paragraph 3.2 of the Regulations For The Operation Of The National League System). This specified a maximum of 16 clubs at Step 7 (that’s Division One to you and me). Since that statement, the FA modified their stance to allow extra flexibility which has been to the Peninsula’s benefit.
