LOWE & BEHOLD! Argyle appoint promotion winning duo

argyle logo2013Plymouth Argyle FC confirm appointment of promotion winning Bury boss Ryan Lowe as their new manager.

Former striker Lowe, 40, will be assisted by Bury first team coach and fellow Liverpudlian Steven Schumacher, 35, when he takes up his new post at Plymouth next week.

Both Lowe and midfielder Schumacher played for Bury at the start of the decade and were Shakers team-mates in 2010/11.

Lowe took to twitter to say he has been "overwhelmed by the support of the Green Army" since his Argyle appointment.

The new management team's priority will be to retain or replace the greens' highly rated - and hugely popular - out-of-contract players.

Goal-scoring playmaker Graham Carey has been courted by Bulgarian top flight side CSKA Sofia, free scoring player of the year Ruben Lameiras watched by Bordeaux among others and Ryan Edwards has held talks with Blackpool and Bristol Rovers, both keen on signing the 25-year-old Liverpool-born central defender.

All three have been offered new deals to stay at Home Park.

Argyle skipper Gary Sawyer was first to sign a new contract to remain a Pilgrim and regain promotion back to League One.

Bideford-born full back Sawyer, 33, says: "This is a massive club and it sits in the wrong division. We aim to get ourselves back out of it."
