SWSN previews opening day SOUTHERN PREMIER games

paul wotton Paul Wotton's first competitive game in charge of Southern League Premier South new boys Truro City will be away to Met Police tomorrow.

Former Plymouth Argyle assistant manager Wotton (pictured) was appointed new White Tigers boss on a two-year deal at the start of July and will be assisted by former Truro City striker Stewart Yetton, who also started his career at hometown club Plymouth.

Met Police will give Truro's new management team a good idea of the season ahead as the Surrey side finished third in Premier South last season.

Truro were relegated from National League South last season and Wotton has been tasked with turning around the fortunes of Cornwall's top football team.

Scott Barlett's first Southern Prem game in charge of Somerset Seagulls Weston-super-Mare AFC is at home to Hendon.

Hendon fnished 16th last term, while Bartlett - a previous caretaker at Weston - returned to the club following their relegation from National League South.

Newly promoted Yate Town - managed by Paul Britton - kick off their Premier campaign at home to familiar foe, Southampton's Blackfield & Langley FC, who won the Division One South title last term.

Britton's Bluebells won promotion via the end of season play-offs after finishing third, seven points behind the champions.

Rob Dray's Taunton Town - who finished a point behind promoted champions Weymouth - are likely to be among many fans' favourites to go one place better this term. The Peacocks kick off the new season at Gosport Borough, 19th of 22 last season.

Salisbury FC, who finished fourth, and south coast rivals Poole Town, fifth last term, also kick off the new league season away.

Steve Claridge's Wiltshire Whites start at Chesham United - 10th last term - while Tommy Killick's Dorset Dolphins make the relatively short journey to Farnborough, who finished ninth.

After winning promotion two seasons ago Swindon Supermarine boss Lee Spalding will be looking to build on last season's 11th place finish when Marine kick off at home to Walton Casuals.

Callum Brooks only took over at Dorchester Town in March so the Magpies manager will relish the opportunity of a fresh start - and a home start - as Beaconsfield Town visit The Avenue on opening day.

Experienced Tiverton Town boss Martyn Rogers will share management duties with new joint manager Scott Rogers this season.

New-look Tiverton start at home against newly promoted Hayes & Yeading, runaway Isthmian South Central Division champions after bagging 129 goals in 38 league games!

Matty Holmes' Magpies Wimborne Town host Hampshire's Hartley Wintney, eighth last term, while Gavin Williams' Merthyr Town start at Harrow Borough.
