SWPL EAST Ivybridge off, Torpoint on top form

OVERNIGHT rain caused the postponement of Ivybridge Town’s South West Peninsula League match away to Torridgeside on Saturday.

The decision was made at 1000 following an inspection of the waterlogged pitch at Donnacroft Fields.

SWPL WEST Launceston AFC 1 Liskeard Athletic 2

Lanson Blues KJMLISKEARD ATHLETIC extended their unbeaten start to the Peninsula Premier league season to 11 games with a hard-earned victory over Launceston last night.

Nick Aplin gave the Blues an 18th minute lead but they had to wait until six minutes from time to increase their advantage, with Max Gilbert curling in a superb free kick.

SWPL EAST Torpoint Athletic 3 Ivybridge Town 1

A PROMISING start ended in disappointment for Ivybridge Town as they suffered their first defeat in eight South West Peninsula League matches.

The match began well enough for Ivybridge with Fletcher Williams shooting them into the lead from a free kick after 15 minutes. The visitors remained on top for the remainder of the first half but failed to find the vital second goal.

MILES QUICK's 89th minute strike secured Wellington’s place in the FA Vase second round for the first time in four years against a Millbrook side missing key players.

Quick took advantage of a deflection off a defender which left him unmarked inside the penalty area and he coolly slid his shot past goalkeeper Chris Wearing.
