Managerless Bristol Rovers secured a New Year FA Cup third round home tie against League One rivals Coventry City following a hard fought 1-0 replay win at League Two Plymouth Argyle

Rovers took the lead in fortuitous fashion as home defender Scott Wootton’s clearance looped up off Cam Hargreaves' back and fell invitingly for wing back Alex Rodman to powerfully head home on 68 minutes.

Plymouth Argyle midfielder Antoni Sarcevic smashed in a unstoppable stoppage time winner as Ryan Lowe’s Greens beat Carlisle to climb to eighth in League Two.

Sarcevic drove to the edge of the box and let fly with a thumping strike to seal victory against Steven Pressley’s United, who have now lost their last three league games.

Striker Yakou Meite scored two late goals as Championship Reading fought back from 2-1 down to beat League Two Plymouth Argyle 4-2 at Home Park in the EFL Cup second round.

Paris-born Ivorian international Meite won and converted an 87^th minute penalty after being felled by home keeper Mike Cooper.

Target man Ryan Taylor scored twice as Ryan Lowe’s 10-man Plymouth Argyle beat Walsall 3-0 at Home Park to soar to second in League Two.

Taylor pounced on a bouncing through ball to rifle home on 89 minutes just four minutes after fellow goal scorer Antoni Sarcevic was red carded for a midfield challenge on the Saddlers' former Bristol Rovers midfielder Stuart Sinclair.
