George Hargrave produced a record-breaking performance to take Shropshire to a stunning five wickets win over Dorset at Wimborne in the Durant Cricket National Counties Championship Western Division Two. 

The Oxford University opener became the first batter in the history of a competition that dates back to 1895 to score a double century and a century in a match.

COUNTIES CRICKET Championship day two round-up

Zach Lion-Cachet made his second century of the match to keep Oxfordshire on top against Devon at Exeter. 

The highly-rated Lion-Cachet followed his maiden century in the first innings with 105 which made him only the fifth Oxfordshire batter to score two centuries in a match and the first since Jonny Cater 10 years ago.

COUNTIES CRICKET Young and Scott set Dorset record

Sam Young and David Scott rewrote a chapter of Dorset’s record books with a partnership of 415 on the opening day of the Durant Cricket National Counties Championship Western Division Two match against Shropshire at Wimborne. 

Their third wicket stand was a record for any Dorset wicket in the competition - which they first entered in 1897  - and also the highest for any wicket by any county against Shropshire.

Campher's winning century for Somerset in Cornwall

Cornwall and Buckinghamshire were both denied the chance to repeat their upsets of the past two seasons by strong batting displays from first-class opponents in this season’s final Showcase fixtures. 

Cornwall beat Somerset at Taunton two years ago but a century from Ireland international Curtis
Campher, a short-term signing for the Metro Bank campaign, set up Somerset’s victory by 63 runs under the DLS Method in a rain-affected contest at Truro.

In the Premier League, a few scattered showers meant a DLS calculation was required in some games.

COUNTIES CRICKET Rain blights Showcase Sunday

Dorset were undone by some familiar faces in their 114 runs defeat by Hampshire at Wimborne in their rain-reduced 22 overs Showcase match. 

Dorset product Tom Prest top-scored with 52 from 45 balls for a Hampshire side that also included three more past or present Dorset players in Felix Organ, Scott Currie and Joe Eckland.
