CLUB CRICKET Regional league season underway

Ecb LogoThe regional club cricket season got well and truly underway yesterday with the opening matches in the Devon Cricket League, Dorset Cricket League, Southern Premier Cricket League, South Wales Premier Cricket League and West of England Premier Cricket League.

The Bristol & District Cricket League, Gloucestershire County Cricket League, Somerset Cricket League and Wiltshire County Cricket League also start today. 

The Cornwall Cricket League and North Devon Cricket League had already commenced.


Somerset host Kent as cricket season bowls in

English Cricket Board three lions Somerset CCC host Kent at the County Ground, Taunton as the 2019 first-class county championship cricket season begins.

Tom Abell’s team will be aiming to go one better than last season, when the cider men finished runners-up to Surrey.

New deal for Gloucestershire pace ace Matt Taylor

Gloucestershire CCC pace ace MATT TAYLOR courtesy & copyright Gloucestershire County Cricket ClubGloucestershire Cricket fast bowler Matt Taylor has signed a contract extension for a further three years.

The deal means the 24-year-old left armer, who graduated from the Gloucestershire CCC Academy, remains at Bristol's Brightside Ground until the end of summer 2021.

England & Wales Cricket Board lionsJosh Bess scored an unbeaten double century as Devon amassed 426-6 against Dorset in their fifth round Minor Counties Western Division match against border rivals Dorset at Sidmouth CC yesterday.

Devon skipper Bess - brother of Test player Dom - smashed seven sixes and 19 fours on his way to 203 not out.

England & Wales Cricket Board logo There was all but a complete wash out in yesterday’s Cornwall Cricket League as torrential rain swept in from the West.

England & Wales Cricket Board three lions Cornwall’s Minor Counties Cricket Championship clash against Cheshire is set up for a fascinating final day at Truro’s Boscawen Park.

Cheshire resumed on 94-5 yesterday and batted well to reach 232 all out just after lunch.
