Western LeaguelogoManager Macca Brown has challenged his Millbrook players to reproduce the level of performance they achieved in ending Western League leaders Bridgwater’s 15-match unbeaten start to the season on Saturday.

Goals from Josh Johnson and Josh Toulson in the opening 20 minutes put the Brook in charge and although Bridgwater pulled a goal back through Jack Taylor, Sean Thomson sealed victory with a stunning stoppage time goal.

SWPL CUP Launceston AFC 0 Ivybridge Town 1

SWPL logoIVYBRIDGE Town maintained their involvement in three separate cup competitions with a 1-0 away win over Launceston in the Walter C Parson South West Peninsula League Cup second round.

The victory takes Ivybridge through to the last 16 of the competition with third round ties due to be played on or before January 2.

SWPL logoPremier East leaders Ivybridge Town had to settle for a point in their South West Peninsula League draw at Newton Abbot Spurs last night.

It was a tough encounter played at a frenetic pace and was a match in which both managers possibly felt their side should have taken all three points. On balance, however, the draw was probably a fair result.

Western LeaguelogoSaltash United beat Ashton & Backwell United 4-1 to narrow the gap on unbeaten leaders Bridgwater United to eight points with a game in hand.

Having joined teammate Callum O’Brien in celebrating 200 appearances prior to kick off, Saltash skipper Dave Barker marked the occasion with a goal in either half to help propel the Ashes to victory.

Ivys 600x600LACK of the necessary finishing touch proved costly for Premier East pacesetters Ivybridge Town against Holsworthy on Saturday.

It was the first draw of the season for Ivybridge and came following the disappointing 2-0 midweek defeat at South West Peninsula League title rivals Brixham.
