After an impressive start to their second Western Premier season, Millbrook have hit the buffers big time and suffered their fourth successive league defeat at unbeaten leaders Bridgwater on Saturday.

They hardly gave themselves a chance at Fairfax Park as home striker Jake Brown fired a hat-trick inside the opening 25 minutes.

SWPL logoTWO superbly taken goals enbled Bovey Tracey to inflict a first defeat of the season on South West Peninsula League Premier East leaders Ivybridge at Erme Valley last night.

It ended a run of eight successive wins at the start of the season by the Ivies, who finished last season with eight successive league victories, so Bovey's success ended a sequence of 16 consecutive league wins.

Second half substitute Morgan Whittaker fired third placed Plymouth Argyle to their fourth League One win on the spin, 1-0 over Oxford United at rain-lashed Home Park.

Fellow sub Niall Ennis’ shot on the turn inside the box was blocked but when the ball fell to Whittaker on the edge of the area he rifled into the bottom corner through a crowd of players.

SWPL logoA GOAL early in each half was enough for Ivybridge Town to continue their winning run in the South West Peninsula League with a 2-0 home victory over Axminster at Erme Valley on Saturday.

Ivybridge extended their lead at the top of the East Division table with their eighth successive win of the season and are now seven points clear of second-placed Axminster.
